But then you notice what happens when you “flip” your flip flops off and walk away.

Apparently leaving a book unattended while grabbing something to drink is not an option.

The neighbours will notice when their fence gets broken and a dog flies through.

Alright, I should’ve walked you when I promised ……… LETS GO!

Such a pretty office

Happy new week! My weekend was full of sunny goodness and I have to admit that I skipped working inside in order to spend some quality time outdoors. Hence, why my post is a day late ;-/ Nothing is worse than having to work indoors when the sun is shining. A big part of my job is post production at the computer so anytime I see an office/work space that I love, I am totally inspired to bring some of that goodness in my own workspace. A couple of years ago when I went to visit Erica Cook’s home in Calgary, the talented girl behind Moth Design, I was blown away with how pretty her office was. The colors were incredible and her little styling bits …. I swoon. For me, being surrounded by little bits of goodness and order is what inspires me to work creatively. I hope this inspires you like it did me!

Tom Hobbs & Brent Beattie’s condo featured in Style At Home

I had the pleasure of getting to know Tom Hobbs over the past few years as he owns a magnificent nursery called Southlands that I visit quite frequently. Tom and his partner of 30 years, Brent Beattie own a fabulous condo over looking Van Dusen Gardens which is quite fitting the fact that Tom is a passionate gardener. Their home in the city boasts the most amazing color palette that includes subdued blues, deep purples and yummy avocado greens. Tom’s sense of humor is reflected throughout the home with whimsical collectables including …. yup, you guessed it, garden gnomes. If you haven’t already picked up a copy of the latest issue of Style At Home, I highly recommend it as there are so many ideas for outdoor living. Have a fantastic week!

Snowdrops

We had a bout of sunshine here in Vancouver over the weekend and I heard we are in for a smidge more. The little white flowers in my garden called snow drops are a sure sign that spring is in the air. Dare I say snow?? But every year when I see these little flowers that drop their heads so gently I can’t help but get excited. In celebration, I decided to make some cookies that share the same name. When the sun shines like it did yesterday, I can almost taste spring and forget about snow. Here’s my Snowdrop cookie recipe. My apologies it’s not gluten free but I’m sure for those that would like to make it gluten free, the recipe is pretty simple to substitute. ~ ENJOY

Happy Tuesday! I want to start by saying a big thank you once again for all of your lovely comments on the passing of Griffon. As of yesterday, I started the process of vacuuming the house and wiping some of the nose smears off of the stainless steel appliances in the kitchen where Griffy “nosed” around. I will however, leave the little nose smears on the front door where he sat patiently waiting for us to come home.

This week I wanted to share a shoot I did over at Quince Fine Florals. House of Fifty Magazine picked it up and it’s featured in the January issue …… which is THE most prettiest issue yet !!!! Highly suggest you pick up or download a copy. Pure prettiness!!!

What a great way to start the year (Karla Amadatsu ~ client & good friend) letting me know that a space we shot is in the February issue of Style At Home. When life hands you a power outage ……. take photos

Isn’t it amazing how much we depend on electricity? Yesterday, I set the day aside to do some editing. There I was all set up, coffee beside me and on a roll when all of a sudden my computer screen went black and the house went quiet, VERY QUIET. Outside the wind whirled. At first I was thinking how cool is this? …… I love storms!!!! I received a text from my neighbor reassuring me that her power was off too.

I went out and gave the dog a walk and decided to amuse myself by bringing in some of the lovely fleurs from the garden and do some much needed “Tracey” time. Over these last few weeks, I have been pretty busy with work. I am VERY thankful for having a job that I love and being busy, but I think in order for me to continue to flourish with creative energy, I need to put a little bit of that energy into photographing simple things that make me happy.

I have been waiting for an opportunity like this to arise so I used my time today at home without power to do a little domestic shooting and before I knew it, the power went up and life continued on as usual. I have to say that it was a really nice experience to know that the pressure to work today melted as I knew there was nothing I could do but make pretty pictures with something that didn’t need to be plugged in.

This is all I could think to do to save this little gift someone gave me ……..

……… and I think it turned out quite nice.
