How was everyone’s long weekend? Did you take advantage of an extra day to get away? We stayed close to home and spent time with family and worked in the garden. It was nice to be able to sleep in too!!!! Speaking of sleeping, I am so happy to finally see this bedroom get the attention it deserves …… It is the first space that I shot for Karla Amadatsu from Kerrisdale Design Inc. and is featured in the latest issue of BC Home & Garden. It continues to be a favorite of mine. The colors are stunning and that studded, striped head board, TO DIE FOR!

On another shoot I did for Karla is her own lavish office that is featured in the latest Style At Home 100 + Designer Secrets issue.

Rick & Lorna’s House in Canadian House & Home

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Just thought I’d share a home that I shot for the latest issue of Canadian House & Home …… The home itself is not only beautiful but the family that lives there is too. Lorna & Rick Penner have four kids to keep them busy along with Rick’s booming building company Rodell Homes Inc. He is the mastermind behind the building of their house and Lorna is the talent behind all of the interior design. Obviously you can see she truly enjoys the process of making her house a home. The relaxed and airy feel of the home is lovely but what I swoon over most is the amount of linen used throughout and those wood beams …….. to die for! I think you’ll really get inspired like I did while admiring what this home boasts. Thanks Lorna for all of the yummy cookies and Rick, the coffees were the best ever.

Happy new week! My weekend was full of sunny goodness and I have to admit that I skipped working inside in order to spend some quality time outdoors. Hence, why my post is a day late ;-/ Nothing is worse than having to work indoors when the sun is shining. A big part of my job is post production at the computer so anytime I see an office/work space that I love, I am totally inspired to bring some of that goodness in my own workspace. A couple of years ago when I went to visit Erica Cook’s home in Calgary, the talented girl behind Moth Design, I was blown away with how pretty her office was. The colors were incredible and her little styling bits …. I swoon. For me, being surrounded by little bits of goodness and order is what inspires me to work creatively. I hope this inspires you like it did me!

Tom Hobbs & Brent Beattie’s condo featured in Style At Home

I had the pleasure of getting to know Tom Hobbs over the past few years as he owns a magnificent nursery called Southlands that I visit quite frequently. Tom and his partner of 30 years, Brent Beattie own a fabulous condo over looking Van Dusen Gardens which is quite fitting the fact that Tom is a passionate gardener. Their home in the city boasts the most amazing color palette that includes subdued blues, deep purples and yummy avocado greens. Tom’s sense of humor is reflected throughout the home with whimsical collectables including …. yup, you guessed it, garden gnomes. If you haven’t already picked up a copy of the latest issue of Style At Home, I highly recommend it as there are so many ideas for outdoor living. Have a fantastic week!

HAPPY SPRING!!!!! Here’s a shot of one of the hills we skied on while being up at Sun Peaks Resort. The powder and the sunshine were fantastic but it was also very good for the soul to be around my family.

I’m heading back out of town tomorrow morning to do a couple of shoots with my pals Erica Cook & Sarah Swanson for Style At Home magazine. We’ll be in good company as Erin McLaughlin, the editor in chief of Style At Home will be joining us for the shoots …. Should be lots of fun! For now, I’m going to leave you with a picture I shot of the blooms in our living room. Before I left to go skiing, I cut a branch from my magnolia tree and “forced” it inside. I was happy to come home to these lovely Magnolia flowers. The tree never ceases to disappoint …. although I can see that most of the trees outside are about to do some blooming themselves. Little things to make you smile

I’m just popping in to show you a home that is featured in the latest BC Home & Garden magazine, it’s a home that I have admired for a very long time. For close to 10 years, I have walked past it, while taking the dog to a nearby park and always wondered what it looked like inside….. well, one day my curiosity got the best of me and I found myself knocking on the front door. I was so relieved when it turned out I have known this owner for quite awhile!!! YEARS ago, I worked in a photo lab and I remember Shelley always coming in to drop off her rolls of film as she was always so genuinely sweet. Her personality is fun, lighthearted and young spirited AND so is her home. As I walked through, I noticed, EVERYWHERE, these cute little vignettes that are scattered throughout. Every time I spotted one, I smiled. Here are some of my favorites.

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a great mix of visiting friends, catching up on work, snoozing and some yard work. Wasn’t the sunshine beautiful on Sunday?

This week I wanted to share with you a fabulous magazine that I was excited to be a part of .. GRAY magazine is based out of Seattle WA. and covers both the Pacific North West and Canada. Recently met the editors, Shawn Williams and Rachel Gallaher when they came into Vancouver and was really impressed with what these two ladies have planned for their stunning magazine. Working with Jennifer & Megan from A Good Chick To Know always is fun because their spaces are so most eclectic and fun, which suits Gray perfectly.

With a heavy heart, I’m sad to say that Griffon, my just shy of 11 year old dog passed away last weekend. It’s been a very tough few days, trying to get over the fact that he’s not clomping around the house or lying by the fireplace beside us. He will forever be in our hearts and I want to thank you for all of your well wishes, it means a lot.

On the flip side, work was beckoning and yes, I had to post pone some shoots in order to get my head straight but as I have always said, I love my job. I’m very thankful that I was able to shift my thoughts away just for a little while to shoot some beautiful spaces.

Always nice to shoot for Zoe Pawlak. Her paintings are absolutely stunning ……. this one found a good home. FYI, Zoe has an exhibition on this Thursday, January 24th 605-55 Water Street.

Working with Jennifer Scott & Megan Baker from A Good Chick To know on a photo shoot for an upcoming issue of BC Home & Garden is always, a treat. Here’s a tiny, tiny peek. Cool lights huh?

What a great way to start the year (Karla Amadatsu ~ client & good friend) letting me know that a space we shot is in the February issue of Style At Home. A little shout out goes to Barbara Matson from Hodge Podge who did a little assisting with Karla to make the space pretty. This is a great issue .. Have a great week!

A little festive here & there …..

In a blink of an eye, another week has come and gone. I’m not sure if it’s just me but I feel like I’m going as fast as I can and barely hanging on in order to keep up with my schedule. Between shoots, dinner parties, decorating, shopping and throw in the usual domestic duties, I’m really looking forward to a break. Instead of staring at the computer editing, I am looking forward to sipping a glass of wine and staring at the tree, knowing everything is done. Is it really ever all done? Or do we just try to make ourselves believe that we will reach a time where it will be all done?

For now, the tree is up and the decorations are out… we opted for a small tree this year and love it. I am still staring at this computer screen but look forward to slowing down soon to enjoy the holidays. I hope you enjoy a little peek into our home at Christmas.
