I hope you are all having a wonderful week…. gosh, I feel like I haven’t written a post for years! …. it’s only been a week, crazy.

Here’s a question for you ……. Does anyone ever send postcards anymore? I think the last time I sent a postcard was when I was in my teens on one of our trips to Maui with my family. It was a novelty to send postcards to my friends but it ended up that I got home before the postcard got to their mailbox.

I was going through a box when I came upon these old post cards that my mom …… yes again, my mom’s collection… She saved so many things like that only for me to find years later and really appreciate. Anyways, these postcards came mostly from friends of hers, and some of which were places that she visited while on family vacations. It seems as though they went to Seaside Oregon quite a bit.

I think I’m going to frame these and create a little gallery.

Notice on this card where it’s indicated which room they stayed at?

Love postcards…and YES….I send them all the time. I am a snailmail addict ….my daughter Molly is always mailing postcards as well. It is our daily routine to run to the mailbox to see if you have mail….pure joy if we do. xoxoxo HUgs

  2. These are so great, Tracey, and what a nice discovery. Love the X marking the room they stayed in! Post cards have always been a part of my holidays – like you, I used to send them to my friends but often arrived home before the post card did :-) And now I usually buy 1 or 2 just because. It’s a liitle nostalgia mixed in with the fear that my photos won’t capture what the postcard does! And I always thik I’ll frame them, but never do! But I still keep buying them anyway…

  3. I love these! Especially the one for Hawaii with the boys in the boat. Great idea to frame them. I honestly cannot remember the last time I ever received or sent a post card but I still get excited when I receive anything in the mail that is not a bill.

These vintage cards are great! I love postcards and always send some when I’m away. I know how much people love to get something fun in the mail (I do, too!) and writing them is like giving someone a gift.

  5. oooo. i love the seaside oregon pools one. so retro.

  6. I don’t think I’ve ever sent a postcard! But I love these. If they made postcards as attractive as they did back in the day when these were available, I think a lot more people would use them.
Today’s postcards simply don’t hold the charm that these beauty’s do.
    Fabulous post Tracey! xo

  7. What a fantastic nostalgic collection. I still buy postcards, for the exact same reason Sheila mentioned above. But never send them either. I have a collection of postcards from a few friends that travelled Europe after high school. The funniest one was a postcard from Amsterdam, it had grass seeds in a pocket! ;)

  8. These are so amazing. You HAVE to frame them for sure. What a delightful surprise to discover these from your mom. Brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing these. Makes me want to buy postcards now :)

  9. I love those. Yes, you have to frame them. What strikes me as those hotels now would be sooo looked down upon has “has beens” but they were soo the thing back in the day!

  10. These are great! Love vintage pics… curious if any of those places are still around! Or if they’re total dives by now, haha!
I have a bunch of mail from my grandma, much of it coming from Oregon. I even have some old leather postcards from WAY back in my grandparents stuff!

  11. Tracey,
I just found you through Nancy Marcus. So glad I did! Happy you won the bedding!! Yay! I love your blog and am your newest follower! Would love for you to pop over and visit me! Have a great weekend!

  12. Gosh those are cool postcards! They would look fabulous framed and all together… I haven’t received a postcard in years (and haven’t sent any as well)!

  13. Those will make an amazing gallery Tracey!! You’re right that nobody sends postcards anymore, except for kids. My daughter still gets and sends postcards and it’s just as thrilling for her as it was for us. Can’t wait to see what you do with these babies.

  14. These are brilliant! They had me wishing I kept all the postcards I received as a kid. I haven’t sent a postcard since… gee, I actually can’t remember! But my colleagues at work still send postcards from sunny destinations when they go away, I think it might be an English tradition?
